FABRICS WE USE

Premium materials.
Export-grade. Bio-washed.

Every SKU goes through the same fabric audit. GSM verified, hand-feel checked, shrinkage tested. Below — the six fabrics we manufacture with, explained the way our production head explains them on a factory walk-through.

FABRIC 01 Single Jersey Knit
The everyday hero — soft, breathable, true-to-fit

Single Jersey Knit

Single jersey is the workhorse of casual apparel — a single set of needles knits one row at a time, producing a smooth, light, drapy fabric with a clear face and a slightly looped back. It is what your favourite t-shirt is made of.

At Gepton we knit single jersey from 100% ring-spun super-combed cotton in 160, 180 and 220 GSM weights. After knitting, every roll is bio-washed in soft cycles to remove fibre fuzz, soften the hand-feel, and lock the colour. The result is a tee that holds shape after 30+ washes — no shrinkage, no pilling, no colour fade.

Best for: round-neck t-shirts, oversized tees, kids tees and printed merch where comfort matters most.

FABRIC 02 Loop Knit Fleece
280 GSM brushed-back warmth — the hoodie standard

Loop Knit Fleece

Loop knit is a heavier construction with terry loops on the inside — when those loops are brushed during finishing, you get fleece. It is what gives a good hoodie its plush, insulating feel without weighing you down.

Our loop-knit fleece runs 280 GSM (heavyweight) and 320 GSM (premium-weight) in the same 100% ring-spun super-combed cotton, with bio-wash finishing. It is the same fabric we use for our hero hoodies, sweatshirts, fleece jackets and varsity jackets.

Best for: hoodies, sweatshirts, zipper hoodies, jackets, winter merch.

FABRIC 03 Ring Spun Combed Cotton
The yarn that makes the difference

Ring Spun Combed Cotton

“Ring spun” is a yarn-making method, not a fabric — but it is so important to fabric quality that we list it on every product page. In ring-spinning, raw cotton is spun into long, soft strands by twisting and thinning, producing a smoother, stronger and softer yarn than open-end (rotor) spun cotton.

We go a step further with super-combed ring spinning — which removes the shortest fibres before spinning, giving the yarn a polished hand-feel and significantly better colour-fastness. Every plain-cotton SKU on this catalogue uses ring-spun super-combed cotton.

Best for: anything that touches your skin all day.

FABRIC 04 Lycra (Stretch)
Imported four-way stretch for sport and active fits

Lycra (Stretch)

Lycra is a synthetic elastane that we blend in for tracksuits, sports tees and active-wear. Our imported lycra delivers four-way stretch — moves with you in every direction, recovers fully without sagging, holds shape for hundreds of stretch cycles.

The stretch comes from a thin core of elastane spun together with cotton or polyester. The cotton/poly outer keeps the soft hand-feel; the elastane core does the work.

Best for: tracksuits, sports jerseys, athleisure tees.

FABRIC 05 Single Pique Knit
The polo's collar-friendly cousin

Single Pique Knit

Pique is a textured single-knit construction with small raised bumps that give the fabric body and a distinctive waffle look. It is the only fabric that holds a polo collar properly — single jersey would just curl.

Our pique runs 180 GSM in 100% ring-spun super-combed cotton, bio-washed for softness. We use it on every polo SKU — it keeps a sharp collar even after a season of laundry.

Best for: polo t-shirts, corporate uniforms, golf shirts.

FABRIC 06 Bio-Wash Finishing
Why everything on our catalog is bio-washed

Bio-Wash Finishing

Bio-washing is a finishing process — not a fabric — but it deserves its own section because it is what separates a regular tee from a great one. After the fabric is knit and dyed, it is washed in a bath with cellulase enzymes that gently “eat” the fuzzy short fibres on the surface.

The result is a fabric that feels softer (because no fibre fuzz remains), looks brighter (because surface fibre stops scattering light), holds colour better (because there are no loose fibres to shed dye in the laundry), and resists pilling for the life of the garment.

Every plain-cotton SKU we sell is bio-washed. The two-extra-rupees-per-piece cost more than pays for itself when you wash your shirt 50 times instead of 15.

The Trust of Gepton

Three checks before any fabric reaches your tee.

01

GSM & weight check

Every roll is weighed against the tag. Off-spec rolls go back to the mill.

02

Hand-feel & knit

A senior cutter checks knit consistency, hand-feel, and surface finish.

03

Colour-fastness

Rub-test on the dyed fabric. Below 4 on the AATCC scale? It does not go to production.
